Home » IRMC Gets Two New Elevators
Elevators are indispensable in multistory public buildings where large numbers of people need to travel up and down several times a day. These accessibility devices are indispensable in hospitals.
The Indiana Gazette reported recently that Indiana Regional Medical Center in White Township would open two new elevators in the main lobby on September 1, 2015. The new lifts will be mainly used for visitors and patients having outpatient services off the main floor. The interesting thing about these commercial elevators is that they will offer scenic views of the landscape.
The ride from the basement towards the fourth floor will be enclosed. Upon ascending from the fourth to the seventh floors, riders enjoy a beautiful scenic view of Indiana. Right at this point, the lift becomes translucent from the inside but opaque from outside to offer privacy. The main floor areas along with the fifth, sixth and seventh floor areas have been fully renovated. In addition, the first, third and fourth floor areas will be renovated during the second phase of the construction.
The first phase of the Centennial Building Project is expected to begin in mid-October. The initial stage of construction will mark the inauguration of the First Commonwealth Surgical Suites and Rosebud Mining Company Post-Anesthesia Care Unit as well as a new Central Processing Department. The second phase of the IRMC construction, which consists of the Kovalchick Family Intensive Care Unit, a new S&T Bank Ambulatory Care Unit and the Reschini Group Endoscopy Suites, will start on November 1, 2015.
