When the NYC “Build It Back” program was proposed in 2013 to restore houses affected by Hurricane Sandy, it came as a great relief for homeowners who were affected. Homes were rebuilt and most of the living areas were shifted to the second floor to avoid future hazards. An established supplier of elevators and stair lifts in New York, DAY Elevator & Lift partnered with general contractors to lead the way in implementing the Build It Back NY Program by installing wheelchair lifts and elevators for people who needed them.
One of DAY’s successful installations was at Steve Johnson’s residence in the Sandy-affected area in NYC. He chose DAY for his project after he received positive referrals from other satisfied customers. Two of DAY’s skilled technicians were assigned to the task of improving accessibility in this home with two residential wheelchair lifts. The project was carried out smoothly within 7 months of the check-in date. The residents can now easily access the newly raised levels from the ground floor of their home.
